Setting off with the goal of a sustainable city, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality opened the IzTransformation facility to separate and reuse packaging waste. In addition, the foundation of the urban recycling area was held on September 25, 2022.
While establishing such a facility with the participation of the municipality for the first time in Turkey, the facility will ensure the separation of wastes collected from the designated regions. Within the scope of the project, packaging wastes will be collected from areas such as hospitals, markets, residences, public institutions with waste collection vehicles. The facility, which has a waste separation track, will make a great contribution to the recycling ring.
The project was started in Karşıyaka, Karabağlar, Buca and Narlıdere, where 800 waste collection boxes were distributed. With the increase in the number of boxes and vehicles, the project is planned to spread throughout İzmir.
